Kiss of Chocolate
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar -- firmly packed
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 cup butter -- softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar -- for rolling cookie
48 milk chocolate kisses -- unwrapped
1/2-cup sugar, brown sugar, cocoa, and butter in a large bowl.
Beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg and mix well.
Mix in flour, baking soda and salt until blended. Cover with
plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 375°.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar to coat and place
on ungreased cookie sheet approximately 2 inches apart.
Bake at 375° for 10-12 minutes or until set. Remove from
oven and immediate set a candy kiss in the center of each
cooking pressing down firmly. (You will see the cookie "crack"
around the edges).
Remove from cookie sheet and allow to cool on wire rack.
